Notre Dame returns to compete in STAT Madness

For the fourth consecutive year, Notre Dame is participating in STAT Madness, an annual competition hosted by STAT News to highlight biomedical advancements and research discoveries taking place in research labs across the country. 

In March Madness fashion, a total of 64 universities and research institutions are matched up for a bracket-style competition.
 
Featured in this year's competition is research by Siyuan Zhang, which examines repurposing statins as a possible strategy for preventing breast cancer spread to the brain. Zhang is the Dee Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and faculty member of the Harper Cancer Research Institute and the Institute for Precision Health.
 
Round 1 voting is open at statnews.com and closes on Sunday, March 7.
