Senior University Photographer Matt Cashore received recognition for his photography entries in the University Photographers’ Association of America (UPAA) Annual Photo Competition. The UPAA is an international organization for college and university photographers, dedicated to the application and practice of photography as it relates to higher education.

Cashore received recognition for four of his six entries, with one entry placing first in the campus environment category. His other photographs received honorable mentions in their categories.

The UPAA holds monthly photo contests as well, but the annual competition represents the photographers’ best work from the previous academic year, according to Cashore. The voting is done by members of the organization.

“Matt has an unquenchable drive to improve upon his techniques and all aspects of his photography. He’s a person who regularly sends his work to his colleagues and genuinely wants them to pick it apart. So when he wins an award from his professional peers at UPAA, it’s the ultimate recognition from experts of the practice,” said Beth Grisoli, director of multimedia services at the University.
