Spotlight Exhibit: “Hagadah shel Pesaḥ le-zekher ha-Shoʼah — Pessach Haggadah in Memory of the Holocaust”
Visit Rare Books & Special Collections to see an exhibit in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah). The exhibit presents three leaves from an illustrated edition of Pessach Hagaddah, a Jewish ritual text used during Passover family meal. It was commissioned in memory of 6 million Jewish people who perished in Europe during the Holocaust.

Sneak Peek: “Strays” (2023)
Abandoned on the mean city streets by his lowlife owner, Doug, a naive but lovable dog named Reggie falls in with a fast-talking, foul-mouthed Boston Terrier and his gang of strays. Determined to seek revenge, Reggie and his new canine pals embark on an epic adventure to get him home and make Doug pay for his dirty deed. Free but ticketed. Tickets will be distributed in-person one hour prior to start.

50th Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition
Starting Thursday with the second annual Lift Every Voice Concert (at IUSB), competition rounds take place Friday through Sunday at DPAC, ending with the Gold Medal Concert on Sunday — this is a weekend full of truly breathtaking performances. Free and open to the public.

Awards and Competitions

Application Now Open for 2023-24 Graduate Justice Fellowship
If your scholarship considers questions of justice broadly conceived from any disciplinary perspective, apply for a year-long, paid fellowship facilitated by the Center for Social Concerns. Justice Fellows will work with invited scholars and leaders from the University and beyond to sharpen research plans through interdisciplinary dialogue and workshops. Deadline of 11:45 p.m. Thursday, June 1.


Closures, Limited Hours and Cancellations

Hesburgh Library — Spring Semester Finals Hours
The Hesburgh Library will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through 11 p.m. Friday, May 12. Find all branch and service desk hours at library.nd.edu/hours.

FYI: Future Closure of Smashburger
Smashburger will discontinue operations in LaFortune Student Center on Friday, May 26. All Smashburger employees will be retained as Huddle employees. They will support other units and projects this summer similar to other Huddle employees. Debranding of the unit will occur and a new concept will be announced at a future date.

Register Now for Senior Send-Off Ceremony
Join the Center for Social Concerns for a celebration of graduating students committed to the common good. Families and friends are welcome for an evening of celebration, food and drinks. Cords will be given to those completing minors or fellowships at the center. Please register by Wednesday, May 10, to reserve your tickets and have your name featured in the program. All are welcome even if registering after May 10.

Notre Dame Children’s Choir 2023 Community Festival Registration
Notre Dame Children’s Choir invites children ages 8 to 18 to join for a day of celebrating sacred choral music in the NDCC 2023 Community Festival. Sing with an age-level choir and then perform in the Community Festival Concert with the Notre Dame Children’s Choir! Advance registration required. Dinner and T-shirt included! Safety, Parking and Traffic

Temporary Parking Changes Due to Student Move-Out
Parking Services and Residential Life ask members of the campus community to be aware of the following temporary changes to parking and traffic patterns due to student move-out.
Beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, four parking lots will close to prepare for residence hall move-out. They will re-open Sunday, May 14. Vehicles remaining in the following lots on Thursday, May 11, will be towed: Dorr Road Lot*, Walsh Architecture Student Lot*, Fischer Faculty/Staff Lot and Rugby Lot.
(*Only a portion of Dorr Road and Walsh Student lots will be used for move-out. Cones will be placed to indicate the areas of use.) These lots will remain closed to regular parking through Saturday, May 13.

Dome Regilding
For the first time in nearly two decades, the Golden Dome atop the University’s Main Building will be regilded. The process of adding a new layer of gold leaf will occur over the course of approximately five months beginning immediately after Commencement Weekend. In addition, the upper tower of the Main Building will be cleaned and repainted. The project will begin with the installation of an extensive scaffold system on Monday, May 22, and is targeted to be completed by mid-October.

You can download all Canvas assignment submissions and other files you’ve uploaded to Canvas from one location.

Graduates: Don’t Lose Access to Your ND Files After You Graduate
Your Notre Dame NetID will be deactivated 60 days after you graduate. Be sure to transfer the files and other resources you want to keep from your Notre Dame account to a personal account. This includes your data in Google Drive, Gmail, Adobe and elsewhere, and must be completed before your account is disabled.


Canvas Tip: Student Tips for Online Exams
Taking exams online requires preparation that goes beyond studying. Whether your course finals are in Canvas or another online system, go to class with a fully charged laptop and fresh browser.

Consumer Confidence Report Availability
The University owns and operates its own public water supply system that serves all campus and C.S.C. buildings. The Utilities Department manages the operation of this system, and as part of its regulatory obligations produces an annual Consumer Confidence Report to provide water quality information to the consumers. The University’s 2022 report can be found on the Utilities Department website.

Reminder: Sustainability Office Move-Out Tips
Interested in how to responsibly donate, recycle or landfill during move-out? The Office of Sustainability and Building Services have got you covered. New this year will be donation carts inside the residence halls for collecting smaller items, like clothes. Larger donations, such as futons, must still be placed outside near Goodwill signs. For more tips and info, visit green.nd.edu/move-out/ and the attached flyer.
