Spotlight Exhibit: “Hagadah shel Pesaḥ le-zekher ha-Shoʼah — Pessach Haggadah in Memory of the Holocaust”
Visit Rare Books & Special Collections to see an exhibit in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah). The exhibit presents three leaves from an illustrated edition of Pessach Hagaddah, a Jewish ritual text used during Passover family meal. It was commissioned in memory of 6 million Jewish people who perished in Europe during the Holocaust.

National Theatre Live Presents “Othello” (2023)
National Theatre Live brings an extraordinary new production of Shakespeare’s most enduring tragedy, starring Giles Terera (“Hamilton”), Rosy McEwen (“The Alienist”) and Paul Hilton (“The Inheritance”). Directed by Clint Dyer. Faculty/Staff: $18. Students: $16. 180 minutes (one intermission).

“Human Flowers of Flesh” (2022)
After a stirring encounter with the French Foreign Legion, Ida sets sail with her own corps of five men to Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria, the historical headquarters of thelLegion. In her spellbinding follow-up to the critically acclaimed “Drift,” Helena Wittmann invites us to relinquish control and join her on a Mediterranean voyage unlike any other. Faculty/Staff: $6. “Tommy Guns” (2023)
“Tommy Guns” invokes the ghosts of Angola’s colonial past while embracing the symbolic power of genre filmmaking. Nothing stays fixed in this genre-shifting cinematic puzzle, which playfully swerves from art house drama to war film to zombie flick to escape thriller with exhilarating control. Faculty/Staff: $6. “The Iron Giant” (1999)
“The Iron Giant” is the animated tale of an unlikely friendship between an alien robot from outer space (Vin Diesel) and a rebellious boy named Hogarth (Eli Marienthal). This remastered version includes two scenes not included in the original theatrical release. $1.

Acting for the Non-Major Final Performance
Students in Professor Anton Juan’s Acting for the Non-Major course perform final scenes from world theater. In this course, students explore the spaces of memory, the body in an external space, voice and diction and the choices actors make, through the observation and imagination of realities. Event includes mature or adult content. Free but ticketed.

Notre Dame Jazz Band Spring Concert
The University’s jazz bands feature three groups: Jazz Band 1, Jazz Band 2 and ND’s New Orleans Brass Band. This jazz concert features music that is fun for all ages, with toe-tapping classics by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Tommy Dorsey, as well as exciting new jazz songs. Free but ticketed.

Michiana Young Playwrights Project
Staged readings of new 10-minute plays written by local middle and high school students and performed by Notre Dame theater students. The participating schools are Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes, Penn High School and Trinity School at Greenlawn. Free but ticketed.

Chorale Offering: “Carmina Burana”
Sacred Music Notre Dame, Concordia Vocal Ensemble, the Notre Dame Children’s Choir, the Vesper Chorale and the Sacred Music Festival Orchestra combine forces to perform one of the 20th century’s most famous works. Carl Orff’s epic ode to fate and passion is a grand and ambitious production fitting its position as the Presenting Series closer. Faculty/Staff: $23. Students: $10.

Closures, Limited Hours and Cancellations

Snite Museum of Art Closed
The Snite Museum is closed as it transitions to the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art, opening in late November. The Snite Research Center in the Visual Arts is open by appointment only Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Raclin Murphy Museum and the Charles B. Hayes Family Sculpture Park are located a 10-minute walk directly to the south.

Hesburgh Library — Spring Semester Finals Hours
The Hesburgh Library will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through 11 p.m. Friday, May 12. Find all branch and service desk hours at library.nd.edu/hours.

Top Chef Stephanie Izard to Cook at North Dining Hall, Speak on Restaurant Industry
Chef Stephanie Izard is bringing her award-winning talents to the University in the “Visiting Chef” series presented by Experience Notre Dame. Izard is known for winning Bravo’s Top Chef and the Food Network’s Iron Chef titles, as well as for her restaurants in Chicago: Girl & the Goat, Duck Duck Goat and Cabra. At 12:30 p.m. the Notre Dame campus community is invited to join Izard in the North Dining Hall for a This Little Goat product giveaway and cooking demonstration. At 2 p.m., Izard will be interviewed on the state of the restaurant industry.

Conference — “Gilligan’s Archipelago: Justice and Mercy in ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’”
The study of moral choice, character and identity in “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” was unprecedented in TV drama. Many experienced the two TV series as a journey through Dante’s underworld and even through his Purgatorio. This conference discusses the imagination of the shows’ creator and head writer George Vincent Gilligan Jr. Open to the public.

Planned Road Closures and Paving
At noon Tuesday, May 2, sections of Holy Cross Drive and Joyce Drive will close for repaving. Both roads will reopen by midday Thursday, May 4. Please follow directions from posted sign boards in these areas as well as traffic personnel stationed in the area.

The University’s shred provider, Shred-it, in conjunction with the University Archives, is offering a free, secure and confidential document shredding event for Notre Dame faculty, staff and retirees.
