Letras Latinas, the literary initiative at the Institute for Latino Studies, and The Writer’s Center invite you to join them for the second season of Curated Conversation(s): A Latinx Poetry Show featuring seven pairings of poets from the United Kingdom and the United States in transatlantic discussion of their work. Summer Film School
Registration for Summer Film School is now open. Four classes on the genres of film noir, musicals, Westerns and horror teach you how to recognize and analyze the unique conventions movies use to make us laugh, weep and cheer. Join brief lectures on each subject before the screenings and stay for a discussion. Register now through Wednesday, July 12. $12.

2023 Digital Humanities Research Institute South Bend
Registration is now open until noon Monday, July 17, for this skills workshop targeted at humanities graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty and staff. This two-day workshop covers command line functionality, Git and GitHub, markdown, Python, digital text analysis, IIIF and GIS mapping.

Research Opportunity:

Opportunity for Children to Read Books and Help Science!

Do you know any children (4 to 5 years) who like to read books and can help early childhood research? Notre Dame researchers are making training videos for pre-K teachers implementing a reading program. Children would come to campus on Friday, July 7, to read books and do activities and get five books to take home. Email Michelle Luna at mluna4@nd.edu if interested.

Taste of Technology: “Designing in Zero Gravity with Adobe Express”
Included in the Campus Creative Cloud License, Adobe Express is a web-based design tool. In this session, the instructor will explore some of its features and design a flyer, social media post and photo collage. New participants must register to attend.

Taste of Technology: “Liftoff! Getting Started with 1Password”
This session will cover registration and setup for a new enterprise 1Password account, including signing up, downloading and installing the software and plugins, logging into your account, exporting usernames and passwords from other systems and importing them into 1Password, linking or setting up a family account and getting the most out of 1Password once you are all set up. New participants must register to attend.

You are invited to attend a session featuring how to use Zoom’s breakout rooms — one of the most daunting Zoom features. Learn how to create and manage breakout rooms in your Zoom meeting, both before and during the meeting. New participants must register to attend.

Taste of Technology — “Part the Nebula: Understanding Google Group Settings”
During this session, you will learn about the intricacies of Google Group settings and explore how they interact with one another. By the end of this class, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of these settings and be inspired to promptly return and create a new group solely for the purpose of delight and amusement. Giving students a single, clear pathway to find readings and assignments in your Canvas site provides students with an intentional learning environment. One easy way to do that is to hide any tools in the Canvas site that you are not actively using.

1Password Feature Sends Alerts About Password Issues
1Password is a handy password manager tool available to ND faculty and staff at no cost. It offers a Watchtower feature to help you find weak, reused or compromised passwords and will update them for you. It will also send you an alert when a website you use has been breached. 1Password provides a simple, secure way to create and manage your account passwords — all in one place.
