Summer Film School
Four classes on the genres of film noir, musicals, Westerns and horror teach you how to recognize and analyze the unique conventions movies use to make us laugh, weep and cheer. Join brief lectures on each subject before the screenings and stay for a discussion. Register through Wednesday, July 12. $12.

“Double Indemnity” (1944)
Summer Film School opens by studying the cinematic elements of film noir via an undisputed example — “Double Indemnity.” The irresistible tale of passion, lies and murder was essential to the genre’s development, which is about far more than filming at night and cool shadows. 2023 Digital Humanities Research Institute South Bend
Registration is open until noon Monday, July 17, for this skills workshop targeted at humanities graduate students, undergraduate students, faculty and staff. This two-day workshop covers command line functionality, Git and GitHub, markdown, Python, digital text analysis, IIIF and GIS mapping.

Call for Research Participants at the Memory, Aging and Cognition Lab
The Memory, Aging and Cognition Lab at Notre Dame is seeking volunteers for research on memory and the brain. To be eligible, you must be 30 to 80 years old, have learned English before age 5 and be in good health. Volunteers are compensated $15/hour.
