The Rockne Project team, along with the devoted staff at Cedar Grove Cemetery, received the esteemed Presidential Team Irish Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

At the request of the Rockne family, this dedicated team worked quietly and diligently to honor their wishes for the reburial of legendary former Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne and several family members at Cedar Grove Cemetery on campus. The team meticulously managed all logistical details, ensuring that their efforts were conducted with the utmost respect, and fulfilled the family’s desire to bring Coach Rockne and his loved ones back to Notre Dame. The whole team acted in a dignified way that honored the solemnity of the circumstances. They also embodied the spirit of this famous Knute Rockne quote: “The secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team.”

Thank you to the team for exemplifying the University values of integrity, teamwork, and leadership in mission for this important initiative.
