When writing contracts on behalf of the University, should you include an “and” in a dollar amount? An example would be for a cost of $255,000, is it Two Hundred Fifty-Five Thousand Dollars or is it Two Hundred and Fifty-Five Thousand Dollars? I was always taught that the “and” was saved for if there is change attached to the total ($255,000.25 would be Two Thousand Fifty-Five Dollars AND Twenty-Five Cents) but I have seen contracts written both ways.
