In the early summer months of 2020, the new Remick Family Hall, under construction, faced significant challenges due to an uncertain construction market. Facing a projected budget overage, it was determined substantial costs could be eliminated if the project team were to manage the project construction duties themselves.

Members of the project team significantly altered their day-to-day activities to take on additional roles and responsibilities, typically managed by the general contractor, for the duration of the project. Team members assumed the new duties and worked as a coordinated team in support of each other.

This leadership, ownership and selfless collaboration led to the project being successfully delivered in time for the 2022 spring semester, providing additional space for Notre Dame’s Institute for Educational Initiatives and flagship programs such as the Alliance for Catholic Education and the Mary Ann Remick Leadership Program.

Thank you to this extraordinary team for their teamwork, and congratulations to the Remick Family Hall project team for winning a Presidential Team Irish Award!
