Registrar offers new transcript application service

The Office of the Registrar recently rolled out a new transcript application service for alumni and current students. The new service, called Parchment, combines both the current student/alumni and former student systems into one seamless process, eliminating duplication of effort and resources.

Registrar Chuck Hurley notes that Parchment is the industry leader, with more than 80 percent of higher education institutions trusting the Parchment credential management system to send and receive transcripts. Parchment is used by peer universities, secondary institutions and government agencies.

Current students will continue to order transcripts online through insideND, as Parchment has been integrated into the system. Students can order either electronic transcripts or paper copies, which will be mailed. Transcripts continue to be offered at no charge for current students.

Alumni can log in to myNotreDame through the Alumni portal and order their transcripts. Former students who did not graduate used to fill out an online form and then send it to the University with their signature. Now, former students are directed to the online Parchment ordering system where they can sign electronically. This significantly decreases the processing time.

The most notable advantage to Notre Dame’s Parchment system is that, in the near future, electronic transcripts will be processed 24/7, without staff intervention.

Transcripts for alumni and former students cost $8 each. The University charges the fee only to cover the cost of the software. (Note: Current faculty and staff who are alumni and have access to insideND can obtain their transcripts for free.)
