The Presidential Team Irish Award program recognizes staff teams that exemplify the University’s Core Values of integrity, accountability, teamwork, leadership in mission and leadership in excellence. A select number of staff teams receive the award each year as a recognition of significant accomplishments, collaborations or initiatives where they demonstrated Core Values. At each home football game, before 80,000 football fans, one of the Team Irish Award winning teams take the field, during a television timeout, to receive the award. Click for information on the Presidential Team Irish Award.

The third Presidential Team Irish Award recipient of 2019 is the Satellite Theological Education Program (STEP). The STEP team manages enrollments in the McGrath Institute for Church Life’s online professional development courses in theology. Each year, approximately 3,300 individuals enroll in these programs from all across the globe, with over 150 dioceses represented. Courses are designed to provide these individuals with the knowledge, skills and information to enhance their roles as deacons, directors of religious education, catechists, lectors and other ministers.

The STEP team develops new courses, hires and educates facilitators, manages records and curricular offerings and assists with technical support. The team is also responsible for an outreach effort through the Camino Program, which offers Spanish language theology courses.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Satellite Theological Education Program (STEP) is an integral part of the McGrath Institute for Church Life. This program helps form faithful Catholic leaders and brings the University to the service of the church. Congratulations on winning the Presidential Team Irish Award!
