Open enrollment, which starts Tuesday, Oct. 20, and ends on Friday, Nov. 6, is an annual opportunity for faculty and staff to reevaluate their benefits and decide which options meet their needs in the year ahead. While most benefit selections will roll forward this year,* employees who would like to make changes must complete online enrollment by Friday, Nov. 6.
The Office of Human Resources has special resources available to help faculty and staff decide which benefits to select, including an interactive online benefits counselor (Ask Alex), the 2021 Open Enrollment Decision Guide, Virtual Irish Health (benefits and well-being fair) and enrollment assistance sessions. Ask ALEX
ALEX is the interactive online benefits counselor that explains Notre Dame benefits in simple language. Please note, ALEX does not automatically enroll employees into benefits. After ALEX reviews an individual’s benefits, the employee must enter elections into mybenefits.nd.edu to complete enrollment.
2021 Open Enrollment Decision Guide
The 2021 Open Enrollment Decision Guide was mailed to employee homes last week. It provides detailed information about the University’s medical, prescription drugs, dental and vision plans, as well as life, accident and critical illness insurance options, funding account choices and information on the Notre Dame Wellness Center. After reviewing the 2021 Open Enrollment Decision Guide, faculty and staff can enroll by following some simple instructions starting Oct. 20.
Virtual Irish Health
Irish Health will be a little different this year. Faculty and staff will have the opportunity to learn about Notre Dame’s benefits and meet with vendors in a virtual format. The Virtual Irish Health Event link will go live Monday, Oct. 20, and will remain open through Friday, Nov. 6. Benefits vendors will host live chats and presentations Tuesday, Oct. 20, and Wednesday, Oct. 21, and faculty and staff will be able to access virtual vendor booths through Friday, Nov. 6. Employees who visit at least five of our virtual booths will be entered to win a cash prize of $750, $500 or $250. Learn more about this year’s Virtual Irish Health.
Enrollment Assistance Session
Faculty and staff requiring assistance with enrolling in benefits may contact askHR at 574-631-5900 to schedule an individual appointment for an Enrollment Assistance Session. Benefits are a key part of employee rewards from Notre Dame. They are designed to address the holistic needs of faculty and staff as well as family.
*If you are currently enrolled in the HDHP plan with HRA, you will default to the HSA plan in 2021 unless you make a different election. You must enroll each year in Flexible Spending Accounts.
