The sidewalk realignment project at the Grace Hall Parking Lot is nearly complete.

Grace Hall lot sidewalkThe new sidewalk leading from the southwest corner of the Grace Hall Parking Lot features new landscaping and an accessible path.

Since June, workers have been removing and realigning sidewalks at the northwest and southwest corners of the parking lot. The new paths will lead pedestrians from the Grace lot to the sidewalk that runs between the Stepan Center (to the north) to the circle drive in front of Grace and Flanner halls (to the south). (See map.)

The sidewalks have been laid, and asphalt repair work will be completed this week. Sidewalks will open once the repair work is done. Early this week, the new accessible parking spot locations will be painted. New signage marking these accessible parking spots will soon be installed.

The project is intended to correct a safety concern. The original sidewalks from the parking lot led pedestrians to consider crossing Stepan Drive or Holy Cross Drive where there either is not a crosswalk or the crosswalk is unsafe. As the result of this project, the crosswalk that was closest to the North Gate has been eliminated.
