The 2017 Fighting Irish Fighting Hunger Food Drive will be held Monday, Sept. 4, through Saturday, Sept. 30. The effort raises money and collects food for the one in five people in our community who don’t have enough to eat.

Non-perishable food items can be donated using barrels across campus. Members of the campus community can also give online at fightinghunger.nd.edu or in canisters at food service outlets. A donation of $1 provides up to eight meals for hungry children and families in St. Joseph County.

All donations are split between the Food Bank of Northern Indiana and the United Way’s coalition of food pantries, People Gotta Eat. The drive is run by volunteers in offices and departments across campus who get the word out about the event, collect donations and run local events as time permits. If you would like to be part of this amazing and rewarding effort or if you have questions, please contact Anne Kolaczyk (akolaczy@nd.edu).

The campus-wide food drive at Notre Dame is held each September, which is Hunger Action month. The 2016 Fighting Irish Fighting Hunger food drive raised $30,570 and collected 500 pounds of food.
