The Digital Irish1Card team is a cross-functional team from University Operations, Events, and Safety; the Office of Information Technology; and Facilities Design and Operations. This team enhanced convenience and safety for students, faculty, and staff by enabling the use of smartphones and smartwatches as ID credentials on campus.

This project was a major undertaking to replace thousands of card and door readers throughout campus, as well as update the systems that rely on ID cards. More than 11,000 members of the Notre Dame campus community have enrolled in the Digital Irish1Card program so far, and this is the first year new students received digital IDs rather than physical cards.

Congratulations to the Digital Irish1Card team for demonstrating the University value of teamwork and winning the Presidential Team Irish Award.
