The Department of Recruitment and Communications has been awarded Best Overall Social Media Marketing in the All Platforms category of the 2021 Higher Ed Social Media Awards.
The award, presented by Higher Ed Social, recognizes the outstanding work of the new media team, part of Recruitment and Communications within the Enrollment Division. Other finalists considered for the award were from Texas A&M University, Misericordia University, and Ohio University.
“Our team is so grateful to be recognized with this award from Higher Ed Social. The student interns are the reason this award was possible. Their talent, creativity, and love for Notre Dame shine through in every piece of content they create for the @NDAdmissions social media channels, allowing us to connect with prospective students and their families from all over the world,” Emily Evans, assistant director of new media, said.
Evans led the winning team of 13 undergraduate student interns, who ranged from sophomores to seniors. Together, they created, curated, and posted content on the Office of Undergraduate Admissions social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Spotify, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube.
The team’s submissions for the Higher Ed Social Awards covered social media posts, graphics, videos, blog posts and other content created and disseminated over the last year. They included the “Learning Together” blog series, through which new media intern Sarah Price ’21 examined racial injustice shortly after George Floyd's death. The series celebrated the ways in which the Notre Dame community came together to learn from all its members and offered resources for promoting justice and equality on and off campus.
Submissions also included student takeovers on Instagram and Snapchat highlighting campus life and academics, videos from the team’s newly established TikTok account and other content across several platforms.
