Tree and shrub cleanup around St. Mary’s Lake is set to begin Tuesday, January 21, and last for several weeks as crews work to further improve the trail around the lake.
The project, which will prompt incremental closures of the lake path, will begin with the western edge of St. Mary’s Lake, near Carroll Hall. Trail section closures will be marked with barricades. Members of the campus community are welcome to continue using the trail for recreation, but are asked to be mindful of posted closures.
“Clearing overgrown and invasive plants around the lake banks is part of our routine work as good stewards of our outdoor campus spaces,” Beau Barnett, director of landscape and grounds, said.
A similar project for the St. Joseph’s Lake trail is scheduled for 2026.
