Campus K-Cup recycling program gains momentum in 2021

K Cycle Successes 1200x675

In 2021, University offices diverted 416 pounds of K-Cups from area landfills. Of that, 312 pounds of coffee grounds became compost and the remaining 104 pounds were converted to recycled material.

While the Office of Information Technologies (OIT) turned in the most boxes of K-Cycle material, with 10 boxes, the COVID-19 Response Unit (CRU) at the Joyce Center collected the most material by weight, coming in at almost 57 pounds of compostable material alone. Overall, 39 offices across campus are taking part in the program.

If your office would like to participate in the campus K-Cycle collection program, visit the Office of Sustainability website for more information and instructions on how to start the process. When returning your boxes, make sure that they are as full as possible so that the Office of Sustainability can continue to offer this as a free service to campus.
