The University's Office for Public Affairs reports that Campus Dining will provide hundreds of pounds of turkey and/or side dishes to three South Bend organizations hosting Thanksgiving dinners in the community.

The staff will prepare 450 pounds of green beans and 450 pounds of sweet potatoes for the 1,200 individuals that Hope Ministries feeds on Thanksgiving Day. In addition to offering free dinners at the shelter, Hope Ministries volunteers deliver meals to the homebound in South Bend and Mishawaka on Thanksgiving morning.

Campus Dining will also cook a full Thanksgiving spread for the 120 guests at St. Margaret's House and the 200 guests at the Center for the Homeless. Fixings include 82 pounds of turkey (or 12 turkeys), 100 pounds of mashed potatoes, six gallons of gravy, 15 pounds of cranberry sauce, 65 pounds of corn pudding, and 65 pounds of green bean casserole. Some staff will serve the meals in person at St. Margaret's House on Tuesday, Nov. 27, a couple days before Thanksgiving.
