A new coffee shop has opened inside Morris Inn. Café J serves Peet’s Coffee drinks, nitro and cold brews, and handcrafted pastries from University Executive Pastry Chef Sinai Vespie, including spinach and feta croissants and bacon and cheddar scones.

The café had a soft opening before Junior Parents Weekend last month, and the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting Wednesday, Feb. 23.

The “J” in Café J allows the Morris Inn family to celebrate three things:

  • The friendship and generosity of Jerry Hammes, who so graciously invested in the vision and construction of the café.
  • Java, the primary product of the café.
  • Joy, something that all guests of Café J will experience.

The three "Js" are reflected in a framed print of three Café J coasters hanging on the wall of the coffee shop.

Café J is located behind the Morris Inn front desk, across from the elevators. It is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The full menu can be found here.
