Progress on campus construction projects

In fulfillment of the Campus Plan, the Facilities Design and Operations division is completing the major construction projects outlined in the table below as well as numerous minor renovations across campus. Visit the division’s new website, facilities.nd.edu, for photos and details on many of these projects.   

Baumer Hall

Open Date: August 2019: Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the indoor space, and landscaping will be installed over the next few weeks.

Corby Hall

Open Date: Spring 2020:The framing is almost complete and the masonry and roofing work have begun.

Eddy Street Commons, Phase II      

Open Date/Various: Graduate student housing located on the east side of Eddy Street will open to residents in August 2019. The two apartment buildings on the west side of Eddy Street will be completed in mid-2020. Eddy Street will be open to pedestrians but remain closed to vehicles until the apartments on the west side of the street are open.

Dillon Hall   

Open Date/Summer 2020: Major renovations have commenced and will continue through next summer. 

Irish Athletics Facility     

Open Date/Mid-July: This facility is nearly complete and is expected to open
in the middle of July.

McKenna Hall     

Open Date/Fall 2021: The existing McKenna Hall will come down in August 2019. The new facility will be home to the Enrollment Division and the Notre Dame Conference Center. VenueND is booking space now in the new McKenna Hall for conferences and special events beginning September 2021, and is reserving space in DeBartolo and the Stayer Center while McKenna Hall is rebuilt.  

Morrissey Hall       

Open Date/August 2019: After extensive renovations this past year, Morrissey Hall will re-open to students at the beginning of the academic year.

Raclin-Murphy Museum of Art     

Open Date/2022: Construction will start in late fall 2019 with preliminary site work; the building construction will begin in spring 2020 and will be completed in mid-2022 followed by the relocation of the collections.

Sorin’s and Rohr’s in the Morris Inn     

Open Date/2020: As part of the reimagined and expanded Rohr’s restaurant, Sorin’s restaurant will close in early November 2019. Rohr’s will continue to be open for the last two home football games. Campus will be invited to experience the new Rohr’s at a soft opening in mid-April 2020.
