on-campus picnic including faculty, staff, and families

The entire campus community is invited to kick off the Inauguration festivities with a celebratory picnic. All Notre Dame students, faculty, staff, and their families are invited for live music, lawn games, and free food starting at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 on Library Lawn. The picnic will run until 8:00 p.m.

Our Notre Dame Campus Dining and Three Leaf teams will have tents that feature global fare, tacos, smokehouse favorites, and signature desserts. These tents have gluten-, dairy-, and egg-free options as well as vegan and allergen-friendly meals. Additionally, 15 food trucks will canvas the picnic to cover sweet, savory, and specialty food items. Craft your tour of the food with this map.

Be part of Notre Dame’s efforts to care for our common home by using the appropriate compost, recycle, and landfill containers.

Live music will kick off at 5:00 p.m. and showcase these artists:

The Notre Dame Céilí Band, founded in 2021, supports the growing interest in Irish traditional dance and music culture on campus. The band seeks to help deepen student engagement and understanding of Irish folk culture through traditional Irish music repertoire and social dance, and is made up of 30+ musicians and dancers from All-Ireland competitors to novice whistle players.

Jerry O'Fonics is a high-energy, hyphen-loving party band known for  its wildly curated setlists that remind you of your favorite mixtapes. From Top 40 to hair metal, they keep fans moving and singing all night.

The High Kings, comprising Finbarr Clancy, Darren Holden, Paul O'Brien and Brian Dunphy have held the position as the distinctive voice of Irish folk music across the world for the last 15 years. Their unique blend of traditional Irish folk music and contemporary sensibilities is testament to their ongoing dedication to preserving and innovating Irish folk music for a new generation of listeners.
